This program is a one-year (full-time) sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the carpentry profession. The program emphasizes a combination of carpentry theory and practical application necessary for successful employment as an entry level residential carpenter. This program is also available part time.


THE DIPLOMA PROGRAM
Competencies gained in the curriculum include the use of hand and power tools, blueprint reading, site layout, footing and foundation construction, floor and wall framing, ceiling and roof framing, insulation, interior wall and ceiling coverings, interior trim, exterior finishes and exterior trim. Program graduates receive a diploma. Diploma Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet general admissions requirements, and must also:

Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma, GED, or college degree.

Present acceptable ASSET, COMPASS, SAT, ACT or CPE scores taken within the last five years or transfer of program level English and math from a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better.

CARPENTRY CERTIFICATES

The Technical Studies Department offers these Carpentry Certificate programs, as well as a variety of other Technical certificates. Cabinetmaking Basics Carpentry Framing Certified Construction Worker
