DRAFTING TECHNOLOGY |
The Drafting Technology Associate Degree and Diploma program is designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and techniques which are required for employment in the drafting field. The program offers technical training which covers a specialization option of either architectural, mechanical, or Pro/E.
Theories covered in the architectural option include estimating, residential design, mechanical systems for residential design, and structural steel detailing. Theories covered in the mechanical specialization include size and shape description, pictorial drawing, auxiliary views, assembly drawings, specification of fasteners, intersections and surface developments, basic CAD applications, intermediate CAD applications, and 3D drawing and modeling. The Pro/E specialization includes theories in basic and advanced design and modeling, drawing and detailing, sheet metal, and piping. Graduates of this program may be employed as drafters, CAD Technicians, detailers, and designers and may be employed with manufacturing facilities, utility companies, home builders, and engineering firms.
The department offers 2 certificate programs for persons already in the field who wish to receive training in AutoCAD or Pro/ENGINEER. The department also offers two advanced certificate programs for persons who wish to receive advanced training in either a mechanical or architectural specialization. Completion of the Drafting Technology Diploma or Degree is required for admission to the advanced certificate programs.
DRAFTING
TECHNOLOGY DIPLOMA PROGRAM
This program is a sequence of courses designed to provide
students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and
techniques required for employment in the drafting field.
Students would choose one of the three specializations:
Architectural, Mechanical, or Pro/E. Program graduates receive a
diploma. credits required for graduation: 77 Diploma Admission
Requirements: Applicants must meet general admissions
requirements, and must also:
Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma, GED, or college degree.
Present acceptable ASSET, COMPASS, SAT, ACT or CPE scores taken within the last five years or transfer of program level English and math from a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better.
DRAFTING
TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATE DEGREE
This two year (full-time) sequence of courses is designed to
provide students with an understanding of the concepts,
principles, and techniques required for employment and
advancement in the drafting field. Students would choose one of
