THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM

This two-year program is designed to prepare students to pass the exam American Registry Examination, obtain employment as a Registered Technologist RT (R) and function as Radiologic Technologist in a variety of clinical environments.

Upon admission to the college, students desiring the Radiologic Technology Programs as his/her major will be placed in the Health Care Assistant certificate while working on program admission requirements.

Acceptance into the Radiologic Program is via a competitive selection process.

Applicants must meet general admissions requirements, as well as the following minimum requirements. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the program.

1. Be at least 18 years of age.

2. Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma, GED, or college degree.

3. Present acceptable ASSET, COMPASS, SAT, ACT or CPE scores taken within the last five years or transfer of a program level English and math from a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better.

4. The student must successfully complete (or transfer in) AHS 104, BIO 193, BIO 194, MAT 191 or MAT 190, ENG 191, PSY 191, and SCT 100, with a minimum grade of "C" in conjunction with a 3.0 GPA. The following courses transfer only if taken within the last five years: AHS 104, BIO 193, AND BIO 194. All of the courses must be completed by the end of winter quarter to be considered for the summer quarter entrance into the program.

5. It will be the responsibility of the student to notify a Radiologic Technology Program advisor via a program ready card when all prerequisite core courses have been completed. Notification must be given by the last day of the quarter in which the courses are completed or transferred to the college.

6. Once the program begins each student will submit a 7-10 panel drug screen, the required background check, and a copy of his/her current CPR card.

Should there be more qualified applicants than available spaces, candidates are admitted based on the following criteria. The students with the highest GPAs will be selected to enter the program first. The student’s program application date will break GPA ties. The accepted applicants will be notified by mail on or before May 31st. Students who are not accepted into the program must re-apply to be considered for the following year. There will not be a waiting list. Applicants are accepted into the Radiologic Technology Program summer quarter and are accepted only as full-time day students. Once enrolled in the program, each student is required to do an evening clinical rotation for a minimum of one quarter.

Note: Grading standards for Radiologic Technology courses are very stringent. For students to progress to the next course of study, a minimum grade of "C" must be achieved in every RAD course. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to remain in the program.

Readmission Policy

If a student withdraws for any reason, the student may be allowed to re-enter the program the following year at the point in which the student withdrew from the program. This courtesy is extended only once. Upon readmission into the Radiologic Technology program, the student must complete additional requirements as deemed necessary by the program faculty. Readmission will be based on available space within the classrooms and clinical sites. (For more information, please refer to the Radiologic Technology Program Policy Manual).
