Tuition and Fees Policies

FEE CATEGORIES

Fees are categorized as application fees, tuition, activity fees, and registration fees. Tuition is assessed according to policies for postsecondary vocational education as set by the Board of the Department of Technical and Adult Education.

Fees may be paid by cash, check, CREDIT card or financial aid authorization. Checks should be made payable to Griffin Technical College. A student whose check is returned for insufficient funds will be required to leave class until such time as payment is made to the school for all required fees. Failure to fulfill financial responsibilities will result in denial of registration, transcripts, diplomas, and other services.

Adult citizens more than sixty-two years of age may attend by paying only the activity and registration fees. These students are enrolled on a space available basis and cannot displace any other diploma or degree-bound student.

REFUND POLICY

  • Students who withdraw from a course by the end of the third instructional day of the quarter and no shows shall receive 100% refund of applicable tuition and refundable fees, excluding the application fee.

  • Student who withdraw from a course after the third instructional day of the quarter shall received no refund.

  • Although there will be no refund of tuition and fees after the third instructional day, withdrawing students receiving Federal Pell Grant will have awards adjusted in compliance with the Return to Title IV process outlined in the Federal Student Aid Handbook.

MISCELLANEOUS FEES

Textbooks can be purchased from the Griffin Tech Bookstore located on the Griffin Tech campus. Books may be purchased with cash, check or CREDIT card. Books may be returned for a refund within seven days of purchase provided the book is returned in like-new condition with the original sales receipt. Used books may be resold to the bookstore during the designated "buy-back" period if the bookstore has a need for the book.

Graduation fees are assessed when the student applies to graduate. A fee of $35.00 is due when the student files the Application to Graduate. The fee is charged only for students planning to attend the graduation ceremony. If the student requests that his or her diploma be sent by certified mail, there is an additional fee of $5.00.

TRANSCRIPTS

The first transcript a student requests is free; subsequent transcripts are $3.00 each. In order to receive a transcript or have one sent to another party, a student must sign a release form in the Student Services office. A request to send a facsimile of a transcript requires a signed transcript release and payment of $3.00. Students should be aware that the recipient of a faxed transcript may not consider the transcript official. Transcripts which are faxed to Griffin Tech for transfer evaluation purposes will be informally evaluated, but an official copy is required for credits to be assigned to the student’s record. Allow 5 working days for processing, 15 days at the end of term. Rush transcript fee: $5.00 (Please note transcripts will not be released if there is a financial hold.)

INSURANCE

Student accident insurance is required of all students for a nominal fee and is payable on a quarterly basis.

Liability insurance is required of students in Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, Early Childhood Education, and EMS in order to participate in clinical training. This insurance is payable prior to beginning the clinical training portion of the program and is based upon rates supplied to Griffin Tech by the carrier.

REGISTRATION

Registration days are set for returning and new students. Tuition, activity fees and registration fees are due on these days. Books may be purchased at the campus bookstore. Students who do not register on the days set aside for registration are in jeopardy of losing their space in class. Students registering late are subject to a $30.00 late charge. Students receiving some form of financial aid must submit an authorized payment form to the financial aid office during the registration period.
