PART-TIME POSITION: PROGRAM ASSISTANT             LOCATION:  Jasper Center

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSOne year of business school or college or one year of experience in performing general office work to include duties such as telephone usage, filing, typing, handling customers' questions or complaints, data entry, computer usage, and/or bookkeeping/accounting.  Knowledge and usage of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  (In addition to minimum) Significant administrative experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties.  Reconciles data, reports, or forms for accuracy and compliance with program/operations procedures.  Maintains filing and record-keeping systems.  Answers telephones and greets visitors in a courteous and efficient manner.  Uses sound judgment and knowledge of organization’s policies and procedures to respond to questions, requests, and needs.  Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by strong team orientation.

SALARY/BENEFITS:  This is a part-time position without insurance benefits; work hours will not exceed 29 per week.  Hourly rate is commensurate with education and work experience.

EXTERNAL POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Full-time Cosmetology Instructor                              LOCATION:  Thomaston 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A degree from an accredited college or university * and* completed courses comparable with the curriculum taught *OR* experience/expertise in the area of curriculum taught. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Applicant must possess and maintain a current license to practice cosmetology in the State of Georgia.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree preferred.  Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations, supervisory experience, and excellent human relations skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This individual will be responsible for teaching day and/or evening classes in Cosmetology.  Must be willing to work flexible hours and work well in a classroom setting and supervise students in live work/practicum/internship settings.  Prepare lesson plans to achieve program goals and objectives that adhere to institutional and TCSG standards as well as accrediting agency requirements.  Prepare and maintain all required student and program documentation and administrative reports.  Student recruitment, student advisement, inventory management, and planning are also key responsibilities.

 EXTERNAL POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT     LOCATION:  Griffin/Thomaston 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in personnel services, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field *and* five years full-time paid experience within the past seven years. Occupational experience must have occurred in business & industry or personnel training/development.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  (In addition to the minimum qualifications) Master's degree in personnel services, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.

 RESPONSIBILITIES: Under minimal supervision, administers Business and Industry Training Programs to include supervision and leadership in the activities of personnel as related to economic development. Assists community leaders in the recruitment of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses within the service area. Develops and provides staff professional development activities. Conducts industry job and training analysis; develops training plans and designs performance-based training. May ensure staff, space and materials are adequate. Participates in the strategic planning process. Represents the College at various internal and external meetings and serves as liaison between Business & Industry Leaders and the College.  Must be willing to travel the College’s ten-county service area.

POSITION:  Part-time Adult Education Instructors                                           

 LOCATIONS:  Butts, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, Taylor, Upson

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in education, business, or related field. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree and prior teaching experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide assessment, orientation, and instruction to adults at various instructional levels.  Complete tasks and assignments associated with classroom instruction, such as record keeping, retention, reporting and recruitment of students.  Adhere to rules, regulations, and code of ethics as presented by the Technical College System of Georgia. Promote adult education programs to public and private organizations as well as to the general public.

 SALARY/BENEFITS:  Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a quarterly basis. Work schedule will not exceed 29 hours per week.   Hourly rate is commensurate with education and work experience.

PART-TIME POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT 

POSITION:  Adjunct Instructor

Griffin Technical College is continuously seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty teaching positions.  Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a quarterly basis.  Adjunct instructors enable us to provide education opportunities beyond what would be possible using only our full-time staff. 

Griffin Technical College is currently building an applicant pool to teach courses in the following fields:

·         Allied Health Programs

·         Arts & Sciences Programs

·         Business Technology Programs

·         Industrial/Technical Programs

·         Public Services Programs

Qualifications for teaching include a minimum of three years full-time experience in the field in which they are to teach and educational background specific to the courses/programs being considered.  Formal teaching certification is not required.

Adjunct positions in some Associate Degree programs require a Masters Degree in the field or a Masters Degree with at least 18 semester hours in the teaching discipline to be taught.

Applicants for positions other than Associate Degree programs must hold a baccalaureate degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university in the teaching discipline or a related field.  Preference will be given to candidates that hold a master’s degree.

POSITION: Part-Time Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicant must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.  Must possess and maintain appropriate professional credentials.  Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE:  Applicants must have three years of full-time, paid, infield work experience within the past seven years.  Computer skills desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This individual will be responsible for teaching clinical classes; accreditation and state licensing management; and LPN program recruitment.  Hours for this position range from 8 to 29 per week. 

SALARY/BENEFITS:  Salary commensurate with education and work experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   Applicant must be a Dental Assisting National Board “Certified Dental Assistant”, dental hygienist who is a Dental Assisting National Board “Certified Dental Assistant”, or dentist with occupational experience in the application of four-handed dentistry principles.  Applicant must have three years full-time, paid teaching/work experience in field within the past seven years.  Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Teaching experience at the postsecondary level.  Active participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations; excellent human relations skills and computer skills preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling both teaching and non-teaching activities.  Must be willing to work flexible hours and work well in the classroom and supervising students in practicum or clinical settings.  Must be able to develop and evaluate lesson plans, direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies, and handle administrative responsibilities related to academic duties.

Location:  Jackson, GA – Butts County Center (1578 Hwy 16 West/Jackson, GA)

POSITION:  Adjunct Instructors

Business Office Technology Instructor- Bachelor’s degree in business education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution required.  Knowledge of Microsoft and other computer applications software required.

Patient Care Assisting Instructor- Applicant must have a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse degree from a regionally accredited institution and current State of Georgia RN or LPN license. Minimum of one year nursing experience required. 

CIS Instructor (Computer Info Systems) – Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field required.  Applicant must have a minimum of three years teaching or work experience in related field within the past seven years.    

Math Instructor- Master’s degree in field or Master’s degree and a minimum of 18 semester or 30 quarter graduate hours in the discipline required. 

English Instructor- Master’s degree in field or Master’s degree and a minimum of 18 semester or 30 quarter graduate hours in the discipline required.
