POSITION: Part-Time Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor

PART-TIME POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Security Officer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicant must have high school diploma or GED; ability to differentiate between colors; ability to work well with others; excellent written and oral communication skills; and be available to work weekends, day, evening, and morning shifts.  Valid driver’s license required

OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE:  Applicant must have previous working experience in a safety monitoring environment or law enforcement or military experience.  P.O.S.T. certification required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under general supervision, patrols assigned areas and ensures safety of campus buildings and grounds for a technical college.  Manages traffic flow and enforces parking regulations.  Investigates traffic incidents, vandalism, theft and violence.  Performs administrative duties.  May arrest perpetrators of crimes.  This position may require P.O.S.T. registration or certification, completion of yearly continuing education mandates, periodic firearm qualification and a valid driver’s license.

PART-TIME POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Microcomputer Technician (2nd Shift) 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicant must possess an associate degree in a computer-related curriculum or related industry credentials, and have a working knowledge of networks and network operation systems.  Applicant must possess mechanical/electronic aptitude for repairing computers and associated equipment, and the ability to safely handle equipment installation and removal.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A comprehensive knowledge of the latest software packages, operating systems and their installation is preferred.  Knowledge of AS400, RS6000, SQL, and Banner Student Software is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This individual will assist the Information System Director in performing the routine maintenance of all Microcomputer hardware, the installation of hardware/software upgrades to existing computers and the installation of new equipment purchased by the College; assist in the maintenance of networking hardware as delegated by the Information System Director; assist in maintaining and documenting all settings made to computer equipment in the College; assist in performing additional duties that become part of the Information Technology Services Department; and provide User Support.

POSITION: Accounting Technician

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  One year of experience in responsible bookkeeping or accounting clerical work or two years of progressively responsible clerical experience in an accounting or bookkeeping office which provided the necessary knowledge and skills (either formal or informal in nature) *OR* completion of two standard courses in accounting/bookkeeping at an accredited vocational, technical or business school or college.  Applicants must be willing to work evening hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Library Science, Instructional Technology, Instructional Media, or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution is required.  Familiarity with online bibliographic databases, library technology and database management required.  Excellent communication skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience in an academic library environment and extensive knowledge of instructional technology preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under supervision of the Director of Library and Media Services, the electronic resources librarian will be responsible for, but not limited to implementing and managing electronic resource management applications including Surpass Library Management System, support maintenance of college and library websites, and GALILEO Local Resources Integration; keeping abreast of developments in electronic resources; implementing access to electronic resources and facilitate communication about electronic resources with the library and college community.

Position:  Adult Literacy and GED Instructor

Positions include basic, intermediate, and GED preparatory level instruction in the areas of reading, writing, and math.

Position:  English as a Second Language Instructor

Positions include basic, intermediate, and advanced English language instruction.

The Griffin Technical College Adult Literacy Department is continuously seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty teaching positions.  Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a quarterly basis.  The Adult Literacy Program offers literacy and GED instruction in Butts, Fayette, Jasper, Lamar, Pike, and Spalding counties.  ESL instruction is offered in Fayette and Spalding counties.

Qualifications for teaching positions with the Adult Literacy Department include a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the teaching discipline or a related field. 

English language instructors should have experience teaching English as a second language.

Preference will be given to particular teaching disciplines which are relevant to the positions that become available and prior teaching experience.
