Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at least six to eight weeks prior to the registration date. The application is available from the Financial Aid Office or from a high school guidance counselor or from the linked banner below.
  2. A Student Aid Report (SAR) is mailed directly to the student from the Federal Processing Center. Submit the SAR to the Financial Aid Office.
  3. Complete a HOPE Application online at http://www.gacollege411.org
  4. Report to the Financial Aid Office all types and sources of assistance received.
  5. If selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, the student must submit signed copies of federal tax return or other documentation and a Federal Verification Worksheet (available in the Financial Aid Office).

Return of Title IV Funds

The Department of Education regulations require the unearned portion of Title IV funds (Pell Grant) be returned if a student withdraws from school before the 60 percent attendance point in the quarter. If the student withdraws before this point, the award will be adjusted. Example: The quarter is 72 days in length. The student withdraws on the 20th day. The student's Pell Grant award is equal to $825. The award would be adjusted to 20/72 X 825 = $229. (Student's adjusted Pell Grant award).

Note: Griffin Technical College does not participate in any federal loan programs or federal work study programs. Special Admit students are ineligible for any Financial Aid Assistance.
