What is the Special Populations Program?
Griffin Technical College provides assurances that individuals who are members of special populations will be provided with equal access to recruitment, enrollment, job placement activities and the full range of technical education programs and activities. Many special services are offered to assist individuals with accommodations and support.
Who is a Special Populations Student?
- Students with Disabilities (see Disabilities Services for more information)
- Individuals from economically disadvantaged families (including foster children)
- Single parents including single pregnant women
- Displace Homemakers (divorced or widowed)
- Students with limited English proficiency (English is not the native language)
- Students preparing for a non-traditional career field. Examples: male nurses or female construction workers
What Services are Available?
- Admissions and Career Counseling
- Assessments including Career Scope, COMPASS, College Entrance Exam (see the Testing Center for more information)
- Lending Library
- Mentoring Program
- Quarterly Workshops for Special Populations including Limited English Proficiency, Child Support Issues, Exploration of Non-Traditional Careers, and Health Care.
- Community Resource Referral
How Do Students Enroll?
Students can make appointments with the special populations coordinator at 770-228-7382, visit admissions in the Main Building, or be referred by an instructor.
